Dementia Carer Support

Dementia care at Rosebank is delivered by a team of carers who have specialist training and many years of experience supporting residents living with dementia.

We’re proud of our staff retention rate, with many of our team members having been with the home for more than ten years, meaning residents receive regular support from familiar faces rather than a constantly changing team.

Our dementia care support includes dedicated training in Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia, ongoing qualifications and approaches that are specific to memory loss and communication changes.

Supporting Life at Our Alzheimer’s Care Home

Daily life at Rosebank is shaped around four key areas that support wellbeing, independence, and familiarity — all adapted to each resident’s individual needs and stage of dementia.

Experienced, Long-Serving Team

Stability is a priority at Rosebank Care home, that’s why many of our carers have worked here for a decade or more.

Our residents are always supported by staff they know and trust, which is especially important for those living with dementia. Because a familiar voice, a known routine and a consistent approach can make daily life feel calmer and more predictable in a dementia care home.

Our low staff turnover also means carers understand our residents’ history, preferences and usual behaviours, helping spot small changes early. Families often tell us that this continuity gives them confidence that their loved one is understood and cared for by a team that genuinely knows them.

Dementia Qualifications & Training

Social interaction plays an important role in everyday life at our Alzheimer’s care home, helping residents feel connected, valued, and supported. We offer a range of opportunities that foster belonging, including:

Families can feel confident that care is provided by dementia specialist carers in Oxfordshire who have the skills, qualifications and practical training to support our residents safely yet sensitively.

Our carers complete recognised dementia training, which includes:

  • Health and Social Care NVQ qualifications covering older adult care with dementia modules built in
  • Specialist dementia modules, including Alzheimer’s, Lewy body dementia and mixed dementia
  • Dementia communication approaches, such as validation and calm cueing
  • Reminiscence and sensory practice using life-story information and familiar cues in daily care
  • Behaviour and emotional support training for recognising changes as part of dementia
  • refreshers and updates so dementia care support remains current and evidence-based

Specialist Dementia Approach

Our dementia care support offers familiarity and clear communication for our residents and their families.

Our dementia care includes:

  • Validation and gentle guidance to direct residents through daily tasks and activities without creating pressure
  • Life-story and reminiscence work based on personal history, familiar objects and themed areas around the home
  • Gentle orientation support using clear signs and visual alerts to reduce confusion and distress
  • Sensory-led approaches in quieter rooms for our residents who benefit from peaceful surroundings
  • Supportive communication techniques, carefully developed to reduce anxiety and retain confidence through every stage of dementia

Dementia Care Accreditation Scheme Partner - Rosebank Care Home

Accreditation and Partnerships

Rosebank is proud to be working with the Dementia Care Accreditation Scheme (NaDCAS). This partnership helps us look closely at how dementia care is delivered in the home and gives us access to guidance that keeps our approach up to date.

For residents and families, it means our dementia care support is checked against recognised standards rather than relying solely on internal training. Not only that, but the partnership also encourages our team to keep learning, try new ideas and build on the experience they already have.

Working with NaDCAS gives us another way to make sure the support we provide continues to move forward and reflects the needs of residents living with dementia at Rosebank.

Family Communication

Dementia Carers Support - Care Specialists in Oxfordshire - Rosebank Care Home

Strong communication with families matters to us. When you know what’s happening with your loved one day to day, it’s easier to feel comfortable with the care in place, so we make sure to keep you in the picture.

If you’d like an update or you want to talk about something specific, just let us know when you’re here or give us a call and we’ll always make time for a conversation. We also share what we notice by checking in with you if we’re considering changing any part of the care plan.

We want you to feel that you can speak openly with us and that you’re always welcome to ask how your relative is getting on.
