Rosebank Care Home Joins the Community at Bampton Donkey Derby
Residents and team members from Rosebank Care Home headed to this year’s much-loved Spajers Donkey Derby in Bampton, a firm favourite in the village calendar.
The Donkey Derby has been bringing people together in Bampton for generations and is particularly important to us at Rosebank because of the work Spajers does to support older people in the local community.
Through its fundraising, Spajers provides various trips, treats and fun opportunities for older people to get out and socialise, something the Rosebank team are very happy to support.
We all had a lovely time at the event, exploring the stalls before settling in to enjoy the donkey races.
We were also proud to have Daisy and Robyn, who are part of Premium Care Group’s Through the Eyes of a Child programme, join us at the event.
The girls had their own stall, where they spoke to visitors about the programme and encouraged other local children and families to find out more.
Through the Eyes of a Child brings children and older people together within our care homes at Premium Care Group, giving them the opportunity to spend time together regularly and get to know one another.
It was great to see Daisy and Robyn representing the programme themselves and talking so confidently about something they have become such an important part of.
During the day, we also had the pleasure of meeting Charlie Maynard, MP for Witney, who stopped to chat with the team and hear more about Rosebank and Through the Eyes of a Child.
Kate Wyatt, Head of Marketing at Premium Care Group, who joined the Rosebank team at the event, said:
“It was such a lovely day and a real celebration of everything that makes the Bampton community so special. There was such a wonderful mix of generations coming together and it was great to spend time chatting with local people and sharing more about Rosebank and the work we are doing in the community.
“I was particularly proud to see Daisy and Robyn running their Through the Eyes of a Child stall and speaking so confidently about the programme. Bringing children and older people together and creating genuine connections between generations is something we are incredibly passionate about.
“It was also a pleasure to meet Charlie Maynard MP and have the opportunity to chat with him during the day. A huge thank you must go to Spajers and everyone who worked so hard to put on another fantastic event for Bampton.”
Being part of the Bampton community is important to us at Rosebank. That’s because we want residents to continue enjoying the familiar places and local traditions they love, while having lots of opportunities to get out and stay involved in village life.
A big thank you goes to the organisers, volunteers and stallholders who gave their time to make this year’s Donkey Derby happen. We thoroughly enjoyed being part of the day and look forward to getting out and about in Bampton again soon.
