Rosebank Care Home Are Keeping The Elderly Connected
We have restricted visits to the home, but are turning to technology to help avoid social isolation for our vulnerable residents in response to government guidelines, amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
Staff are keeping spirits high by bringing the outside world in to the home by continuing our weekly keep fit sessions through FaceTime and supporting relatives and residents to use Skype calls.
With the over-70s considered one of the groups which are vulnerable to the virus, relatives and friends are having to think carefully about unnecessary physical contact and social interaction.
In order to combat social isolation we have increased our activity schedules and residents have been enjoying creating memory books, participating in sunflower competitions, celebrating St Patrick’s Day and even raising fluffy yellow ducklings.

Jane Roberts, owner of Rosebank Care Home increased activities after the home restricted visits to essential only, to help safeguard residents and the care team. Staff want to reassure families that residents are in good spirits and are finding innovative ways to remain active.
Jane commented:
“We strive to provide a secure, safe and loving environment for our residents, and while this pandemic will be distressing to both families and residents, we will do our upmost to ensure the mental wellbeing of all is maintained.
“In our home we are already making social distancing changes but introducing new activities and moving to video link instead. We will be offering increased FaceTime and Skype links to families as we reduce to essential visits only.
“These are temporary but essential changes, as we strive to keep all of our residents and staff safe from the risks of Covid-19.”
Rosebank Care Home have also been celebrating with a tea party this week following their recent ‘Outstanding’ rating by the Care Quality Commission.
