As the days shorten and the temperature dips, it’s quite common to feel the winter blues creeping in. Less sunlight, colder weather, and sudden changes in temperature can lead to feelings of uncertainty, loneliness, and even depression among older people living in care homes.

However, here at Rosebank, we are embracing the cosy charm of winter this year and what better way to do that than with a touch of hygge?

Hygge is a Danish concept that embodies warmth, cosiness, and contentment; it’s all about creating a sense of well-being and enjoying the simple pleasures of life, especially during the colder months.

Here’s how we’re ensuring that our residents stay happy and healthy this winter:

HYGGE FOR HAPPINESS

This winter at Rosebank, we’re embracing slower days and cosy afternoons, reading our favourite books, knitting, watching films with friends, playing indoor games and enjoying lovely conversations with each other.

We’re enjoying small pleasures like taking a wintry walk, soaking up the morning winter sunshine, indulging in warm and hearty meals made by our talented chefs, sipping hot chocolates by the fireplace and admiring the beauty of nature around us.

MOOD BOOSTING ACTIVITIES

We have our regular fitness sessions, indoor games afternoons, arts and crafts hours, singalongs, weekly visits to the church, catching up with friends over coffee, group visits to the local pub and more.

It’s always nice to get together with our friends at Rosebank and enjoy our days with each other. Social interaction is very important for our mental well-being, and we make sure that our residents get enough of it at Rosebank.

TAKING CARE OF OUR HEALTH

While enjoying the season and engaging in fun activities keeps us happy, it’s also important to take extra care of our health during the colder months. Our incredible team ensure that residents get fresh air and plenty of sunlight, stay active and get their movement in every day, have nourishing meals throughout the day and get enough sleep each night.

We’ve decided to make the most of the winter months this year and will keep you updated about how we get along on our Facebook page. If you have any questions about how to support a loved one this season, call our friendly team at 1993 850308, or drop by our lovely home in Bampton for a chat.
