We’ve seen a couple of heatwaves this summer – in fact, we are enduring one right now!
Staff and residents at Rosebank care home have been keeping cool over the summer months so far with lots of fun activities and adventures as the sun shines on.
What have we been up to?
Queen’s Platinum Jubilee
In June, residents and staff celebrated the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with a weekend full of fun activities and treats! The celebrations began by decorating the home full of balloons and bunting followed by an afternoon of high tea. A photo booth was later placed in the home alongside a few props they could take photos with. Over the long weekend, there was a lot of nice bubbly and cakes on offer and lots of fun garden games to enjoy!

Getting outdoors
The beautiful summer weather in July and August so far has meant the residents could enjoy the outdoors by going out to have a drink at the local pub or doing a spot of gardening.
Throughout the last few months, many enjoyed sitting out in the sun with a drink and some snacks and doing a crossword puzzle or watching the birds. Others enjoyed planting and arranging some new flowers and helping out in the garden.
The weather has also meant that residents could walk to the local pub to enjoy a cold drink outside and play some games!
Visiting Millets Farm
We had a wonderful morning recently visiting the animals at Miillet’s farm!
Some of our residents especially enjoyed a nice big slice of chocolate cake and a coffee whilst we were there.
Some of the animals we saw include: pigs, goats, alpacas, horses, donkeys, ducks and swans!
Cooking and crafting
Getting our residents involved in everyday activities has proven to be a success across the home.
We have recently made sandwiches and even cherry muffins! We have also been busy crafting with tissue paper, painting and colouring.
Therapy pony
We recently welcomed Harry the therapy pony into Rosebank – who all of the residents loved!
He went round to everyone and let them stroke him, he even got extra strokes in the garden from a resident’s family members whilst they were having a visit.
Celebrations
We have been celebrating a number of birthdays recently, once again resulting in lots of cake consumption and card opening at Rosebank – which everyone always loves!
Thank you to all the family members and friends who have been sending in gifts to our residents, it truly makes their day!
