Rosebank’s Spring Update: What we’ve been up to lately

As the sun has popped out to say hello and the flowers begin to bloom in our beautiful garden, we have been keeping very busy with activities, celebrations and outings over the past few weeks which everyone has enjoyed immensely.

We are looking forward to a fun and active spring here at Rosebank, whilst beginning plans for the warmer months of summer.

Announcements

We have been celebrating in the home recently as we have received the news that we have successfully achieved re-accreditation for the seventh year for the Gold Standards Framework Quality Hallmark Award for delivery of end of life care.

The prestigious Gold Standards Framework in Care Homes (GSFCH) award places Rosebank in a select group of care homes in the United Kingdom to be recognised for delivering the highest standards of care for people in the final years of life.

This is a fantastic accolade to be awarded and we are so proud of all of our team.

What have we been up to?

As we enter the sunnier months of the year, we have been making the most of the outdoors at the home where we have been up to a number of exciting activities.

During March, we organised for an ice cream van to come to the home so that all of our lovely residents and staff could enjoy an ice cream of their choice! It is no shock that the most popular choice of ice cream for the day was the classic 99 cone!

Easter chicks have arrived

We are excited to announce that our Easter chick eggs arrived on Monday 4th April and the residents started to watch them hatch on Wednesday 6th April!

We have eight chicks in total now and they will be off to their new home on the farm on Thursday 14th of April, so we are making the most of our time with them by having lots of cuddles.

Movie nights at Rosebank

We are really pleased to share that we have started our ‘movie Monday’ evenings at Rosebank recently where the residents choose which films are shown.

Popcorn and refreshments are provided throughout the evening. So far, we have enjoyed watching ‘Dirty Dancing’, ‘Annie’, ‘Jumanji’, and ‘Grease’!

Cooking and Crafts

Getting our residents involved in everyday activities has proven to be a success across the home.

We have recently made a Black Forest Cake, some millionaire shortbread biscuits and a very popular carrot soup! Everyone has enjoyed getting involved in this.

We have also been busy crafting with tissue paper, painting and colouring.

Cheltenham Horse Racing

We had a particularly special week watching Cheltenham Races on the television. All staff and residents got involved and everyone looked through the newspapers to place their bets on the horses!

Residents then came up with two teams and painted their own horses, which were named ‘Typhoon’ and ‘Amazing Sue’. One afternoon, as the races started in the dining room, we also had Alan in the front lounge playing the saxophone which was enjoyed by everyone.

Keeping fit

Our residents have been keeping in great shape with our regular exercise classes which everyone enjoys!

We also took a trip down to the local charity shop recently for some thrifty purchases. We visited the local butchers and some of the residents enjoyed a walk around the market square.

Celebrations

We have been celebrating a number of wonderful birthdays for both residents and staff, resulting in lots of cake consumption and card opening at Rosebank recently!

Our home manager, Vanessa, turned 50, so we surprised her with some flowers, a personalised cake and we even decorated the dining room with bunting!

We all sang happy birthday to her throughout the day. We also celebrated one very special resident, Ruth’s birthday. She also received a personalised cake, lots of cards from family and friends, a new personalised bag and has been surprised with a weekend away to her niece’s house next weekend.

Thank you to all the family members and friends who have been sending in gifts to our residents, it truly makes their day!

We say goodbye… And hello!

We are really pleased to announce that we have welcomed the lovely Jasmine to our Lifestyle team here at Rosebank.

We have also welcomed Debbie to our day staff team and Mary to our night staff team. Everyone has settled in nicely!

Finally, we would like to say a huge thank you to our lovely community and our residents’ families for all of the fabulous gifts, cards, and letters of support which are very much appreciated.

Please follow us on Facebook to keep abreast of daily life at Rosebank. We send our love and best wishes to you all!
